What is Different Today Than in Old Testament Days?
Here we need to go back the first Post.
Mankind, Adam, disobeyed and allow Satan to have access to man’s error filled life. Because of this Mankind now had to rely on their own senses to make any decision they would make. The life that came from God to protect him from Satan had gone. Mankind has always got things wrong and had to return in repentance to God. We also see that a man in trying to the best of his ability and trusted God he could be counted as righteous.
When Jesus died and rose again this power that Satan had over mankind was broken. Now if someone received that Life on the inside these detours were brought to a minimum. Man, still has to use his free will but now the power to be obedient has been increased. Mankind now is considered Righteous not by his effort to be obedient but by the obedience of another, Jesus. This makes the battle so much more effective.
In Matthew 28: 18-20 We read; 18. “Yeshua (Jesus) came and talked with them. He said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make people from all nations into talmidim [disciples], 19. immersing them into the reality of the Father, the Son and the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit), 20. and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember! I will be with you always, yes, even until the end of the age.” (CJB)*
Jesus has gained the authority, the power over all things. That means Satan’s power over the believer. Jesus gained this authority, and He has delegated it to those that believe. It is now the task of the believer to bring evil under their control and finally defeating it.
This may seem too good to be true, but this is the fact of the matter. I know that the early Church understood this fact but somehow it has been lost over the centuries.
At this point I want to go back to the Tower of Babel. Satan’s evil powers were in full swing at that time but the forces of good of the true believers did not bring an end to this activity. It has continued all these years much of which hidden, underground, right up again to this day. Although King Cyrus and King Darius conquered Babylon and ruled in Babylon this practice did not stop.
A little detour is needed again to fill in the blanks.
In Isaiah chapter 45 we read a lot of what King Cyrus would accomplish. Although he let the Israeli people go back to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple much of what is stated he would do was not accomplished. Although the city of Babylon lost its power and later was taken over by the Greeks and Babylon was demolished, what was being carried on by the people went underground.
Although we don’t see much what was being done in Babylon in the history since then it still had a significant role in effecting governments all around the world.
In Revelations 15, John tells us of the collapse of Babylon and the aftermath of the fall of Babylon in one day and John sees this in the future. All this points to something happening in our future as it has not happened at the time of this writing.
Why all these detours?
It is important for those that claim to be Christian to realise that we the Church have to do our part now to assist this downfall of the Babylonic control that has be influencing the nations.
Let me refer to a parable in Matthew that might make this clearer.
Let’s do this next Post.
