The Questions That Need Answering - Previous Section

Where Does The Church Fit Into Today’s Society?

Throughout these Posts I presented the thread that there is battle between Good and Evil. The last several years has produced so much blatant evil that is obvious to the casual observer. The Church in general has just kept to its own track and not felt the need to call these things out. I am convinced that this is because the ‘Church’ does not think they should be sticking their necks into political or society’s affairs.

I want to state what Jesus clearly sets out the role of all believers should be.

Matthew 5: 13-16, 13. “You are salt for the Land. But if salt becomes tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything except being thrown out for people to trample on. 14. “You are light for the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15. Likewise, when people light a lamp, they don’t cover it with a bowl but put it on a lampstand, so that it shines for everyone in the house. 16. In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they may see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.” (CJB)*

Matthew 28:18-20; “18. Then Jesus came and spoke to them [the disciples], saying ‘All authority has been given to Me in Heaven and on earth. 19. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [my italics], baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20. teaching them to observe all things I have commanded you; and lo I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ ” (NKJV).

If we are to “be salt” and “light”, we must affect the community. And “make disciples of all the nations” is not just getting people ‘saved’.

It is sad that it has taken these last several years to wake up the Church. Let’s not allow this to continue to happen.

There is a two-layered commission that the Church has to take up. Matthew 28:19, and Mark 16:15. Rolling these together it is making disciples of nations and preach the Gospel to every creature. Along with this is the Church, or Ekklesia has the power that even the Gates of Hades will not overcome it. This is of course as long as the Church takes its’ stand.

I want to try and tie all this up in the next 2 Posts to show what I believe is the way ahead.
